What is a discount benefit plan?
Discount benefit plans are programs that provide access to medical providers and
health related products and services at discounted rates. These programs offer you
a choice of thousands providers, services and locations at significant savings,
generally range from 10% to 85%. Payments are generally due at the time of service,
at the discounted rate or the monthly membership may include the cost of the service
all together. Discount plans offer consumer savings through a pre-negotiated rate
or fee schedule. Discounts will often vary between providers, even within the region.
How are the discounts guaranteed, or how do I know I'm getting a discount at
all?
The discounts received on the different programs will vary based on several factors.
Fee schedules will differ based on the type of plan you purchase, your geographic
location, and type of procedure being performed. Particularly for Dental and Medical,
providers agree to charge a pre-negotiated rate based on the above factors. This
rate will be a discount from their normal fees. An example of an exception might
be in the case of a Pharmacy, if a particular drug was being offered temporarily
to all customers at a price less than the discounted price, you would receive the
lesser price.
Do I need a card for each family member?
No, the
entire family may use the same cards. You may also order additional card for nominal
charge.
How do I get a discount?
At the
time of a service, show your discount card. You will be told the regular price and
the discounted amount. Pay the discounted amount due at the time of service.
